Library Search

Today I discovered the WorldCat site that lets you search for a book in libraries around the world. It reveals how many libraries a book is in and where they are located. I was pleasantly surprised to find that, not only is my book Composing Magic listed, but it is available in 18 libraries. Most are in the Midwest, but a handful are down south and a few are out in California. There are no reviews attached to it yet, though, so if anyone here has a WorldCat account, that would be a helpful addition.

It's a shame local libraries don't have it! I'd love to check it out but my budget for books is very slim at the moment.

... I just checked out the reviews on Amazon and I think it'll have to go on my wishlist, though! I was especially intrigued by the one written by a children's book writer, the idea that it is a book useful to writers in any genre is quite appealing!
Thanks for the tip! I hadn't checked Amazon.com recently so that review was new to me. W00T!

I based the design of _Composing Magic_ on the kind of creative writing resource that I find useful, and I'm delighted by the consistent feedback that it's clear and effective. I like writing books with plenty of examples and exercises, especially if some of them are a little whimsical.

As for finding my book in your local library -- try requesting it. Some libraries have a policy of buying books based on reader requests. You might even print off the Amazon.com reviews and send them with your letter. Much the same applies to bookstores; if people keep asking for a particular item or category, the store is more likely to offer it.
