Hard Things

Life is full of things which are hard or tedious or otherwise unpleasant that need doing anyhow. They help make the world go 'round, they improve skills, and they boost your sense of self-respect. But doing them still kinda sucks. It's all the more difficult to do those things when nobody appreciates it. Happily, blogging allows us to share our accomplishments and pat each other on the back.

What are some of the hard things you've done recently? What are some hard things you haven't gotten to yet, but need to do?

Your affirmation is very apprciated and timely.

I'm spending hours every day fighting for tenants' rights as president of my building's Tenants Association, despite all the new residents/neighbors who refuse to learn that they HAVE right and they're worth defending!
The "old timers" understand the cause the support us, but as they move out or are too elderly to help by going door-to-door, it feels like nobody cares.

I'm reorganizing my workshop, constantly finding things that broke or got damaged from improper storage. My daily PDA has a cracked back because the Li-ion battery expanded. Things just want to self-destruct :-(

Go you!

When people haven't had rights, only wishes, that is what they do. Fixing that requires showing, not just telling. It might help to post success stories and/or have longer tenants mentor new ones. But mostly, it takes time for people to realize that things have changed, after a long time of consistently bad experiences.

Alas, entropy!
