POLITICS: Tolerance and T-shirts

This, except that I can believe it; when people perceive themselves to be in the majority, sometimes it inspires them to release their inner bully.

It does make me sad, though.

Maybe it's just because I was taunted and made fun of so much when I was a child (for supposedly being "fat" except I actually wasn't, looking back). Same reason why I judge people on the inside, and their attractiveness goes up or down depending on their personality. You get pushed away by peers for appearance long enough, you refuse to treat other people the same way b/c you know first hand the unfairness of such a judgement.

I think that's the same reason I prefer being around visible minorities than other caucasians. It was only caucasians who treated me like shit and I never realised that until now, actually. I just knew they were teased the same way I was: based only on appearance. So, I can relate to how they feel (even though I know it's not exactly the asme).

That's because you're a good person, I suspect. :) I completely agree with you on this being the lesson to take from such experiences, but I've known people who responded by looking for victims they could beat up on to feel empowered again.

Yeah, unfortunately there are some who take their anger and just redirect it at others without reflecting. They probably understand it as the normal thing to do. Unprovoked aggression is never a good thing, and is NOT a trait of survival.
