Poem: "Healthy Jellies"

This poem is spillover from the August 2, 2016 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired and sponsored by Shirley Barrette.

"Healthy Jellies"

Jellyfish are more than
beautiful, living balloons
floating in the ocean.

They are surprisingly useful
in science and medicine too.

A luminous gene marks
the activation of other genes.

A food supplement may
slow the effects of aging.

Turritopsis nutricula can even
reverse its own life cycle, useful
in exploring regeneration.

The world is full of wonders,
but you have to notice them
in order to derive the benefits.

Science is the eternal search
for finding the use in the unusual.

Notes:

Jellyfish are weird, beautiful water animals. They offer a variety of health benefits, including potential for regenerative medicine.
