State of the Household

The air conditioning seems to be fixed.  We still need to pull out the window unit and close the window, though.

New ISP is secured and the new router hooked up.  Excellent signal coming through.  I still need to figure out a new email address provider, however, as that service is not available through our co-op.

I expect to be busy for a substantial portion of Saturday.

Might I suggest proton mail?
Thanks for the recommendation. I've been needing a second email account myself.
:^)
There's not too many companies that promise nuclear bomb proof service. Literally and figuratively.
Seems like a lot of fuss and feathers considering how tame, dull, AND boring my emails actually are, but I'd rather only the people I email read those messages.
Want to know WHY I want a second email account?
I need one to catch all the blasted spam I know I'll get when I finally sign up for websites like Pinterest. And that's not something I want arriving in my regular email account.
:^\

You know that gmail [googlemail] does more than one inbox now? So you can automatically filter stuff like that to 'promotions' or whatever, on it's way to trash.
Almost no modern services or products meet my standards. I will likely settle for something that's not web-based and seems stable for the long term.
Our AC started going bad this week so we called our usual bunch to come fix it. Turns out that a thingie called a capacitor was in the process of going out....the bill was a small fortune but we now have a working AC in AUGUST. I'm just glad that we didn't wait because it would have gone out over the weekend for sure.
I hope you'll be able to sort the email provider out and soon. I hate being cut off from everyone when it happens to me.

I wish you luck with that.
Shameless plug for Fastmail, my email provider... Open source, Aussie privacy, NO ADS. They can pull over all your old stuff, too, if it's publicly web-accessible. I'm not sure they *have* a free level anymore, but even the super premium level is $40/yr... worth it

Full disclosure, I get credits if you mention me during signup, but I would plug them even if I didn't. They're that good.
I want something which is not web-based.
Oh, you can do that, too. I use it with Thunderbird when I want to do encryption off the desktop. Technical setup specs (there are also client-specific pages, but not for the one I know you use...) It should work with just about anything you want to point at it that speaks IMAP (preferable) or POP3...

But YAAAAAAAY AC!!!!
