It's been pretty this week, and we got some rain.  I got some more flowers planted or transplanted.  Seen at the bird feeders this week: small flock of sparrows, several mourning doves, cardinals, cowbirds, blue jays, and grackles.  Currently blooming: violets, honeysuckle, zinnias, petunias, marigolds, million bells, moss rose, pansies, pink things and purple things in the wildflower garden, comfrey.  I think the purple thing newly blooming in my wildflower garden is Ohio spiderwort, whose stems look very cornlike.  Mulberries and wild strawberries are ripening.  Blackberries, crabapples, and apricots have green fruit.  Raspberries and serviceberries have pink fruit, but I think the birds are eating all the serviceberries before any get ripe.  Daylilies have buds on them. Fireflies are active now.

Fireflies, tee hee. They always remind me of certain scenes in Bujold's Sharing Knife series. Have you read it?

Bujold does sweet and funny like no one else [except maybe ze spouse].
