To my conservative friends...

... I hear that McCain gave a classy concession speech. Bravo.

Now, what can I do to help you feel safe and heard?

I want America to be balanced and whole again. I want all of us to be part of that. I'm hoping that Obama will stick to what he said (that I gakked from puffbird's page) earlier tonight:

"To those of you whose support I have not won, I may not have won your vote tonight, but I hope to earn your respect, and I will be your president, too."

I was highly impressed his whole acceptance speech but that one line really stood out to me as well. I remember my incoherent rage shortly after Shrub won his 2nd election when he took the exact opposite point, and made points and decisions clearly offensive to the entire half of the country that did NOT vote for him. I recall signing and mailing a brilliantly stated letter that went out via email to the nation, begging him to remember and respect the views of the full half of the nation that did NOT support him nor his policies.
President Elect Obama's view seems more balanced from the start.
