I keep wondering just what the Republicans are up to behind scenes while they've been raising such a public ruckus over the past few years....
Their obstruction tactics are going to come back on them badly. Another thing I wonder about is the fact that they don't seem at all worried about their public image--I really don't understand that at all!

They're probably thinking 'We have the voting machines "fixed", we're good.' (Republicans figure strongly into the makers of the voting machines being used across the US)
That is why I distrust voting machines and resent their spread. I also note that America keeps getting the UN called on them for various bullshit more often as time goes on. >_
Honestly, if the government shutdown and debt ceiling fight won them bigger majorities, I don't see why they'd suspect this would hurt them. A lot of the press won't point out that this is really pretty strange, and I think that's part of the problem.

For example, news will quote the Republicans saying "Well, Joe Biden said that a president (George HW Bush, I believe) shouldn't nominate a new justice, if one retires, until after the election." But "he should hold off until the election is over" is far, far different from "we simply won't confirm anyone, we want the next President to pick the justice." Saying that would be "partisan" and demonstrate "bias", you see.
I don't see HOW the Republicans could possibly get anyone into public office above the level of "dogcatcher" considering the way they've scorned and belittled women these past few years. And this hoohaw over the appointment of the new Supreme Court Justice is just one more example of their bad behavior.

I have to agree with you. I reckon I'm "old school" in that I always thought that people in politics should behave themselves honorably. Now that you've mentioned this, I wonder why the press hasn't mentioned the fact that most people still expect their politicians to BEHAVE THEMSELVES.
