"Contact Points"
Randie realized that something had changed
the first time she woke up from the full moon
with a crystal-clear memory of her wolf time.
Normally she retained only vague impressions,
and it was one of the things she hated the most
about being a werewolf -- losing time,
and losing her sense of self.
This time was different.
Oh, she couldn't recall the whole night,
but she certainly remembered them
circling around each other, slowly
drawing closer and closer.
She recalled her wolf sniffing
at the beautiful blonde wolf
sharing the secure cell.
They had touched noses, and
snuffled each other's intimate parts,
contact points defining a connection.
Circling together, they had
bumped shoulders and stroked sides,
chinning over necks and backs.
In the end they wound up
curled into a warm puddle of fur,
the dark wolf against the light,
not fighting but snuggling.
Randie did not understand
exactly what had changed,
or how or why, only that
she suddenly sympathized
with what Hilla was always
saying about her change:
You gave me a part of my life back.

Notes:
Hilla is a very pale blonde in wolf form.
Randie is a dark chocolate with black points in wolf form.
Wolves often show affection by snuggling.
Contact points are places wolves touch each other while posturing, circling, or other interactions.
The legend of two wolves compares a light wolf to good and a dark wolf to evil.
