As you can tell from the timing of this post, I am getting fuckall done today. Various mundane things have intruded on my time, and that's after not even getting all of yesterday's stuff done then. *headdesk*
A big portion of that, however, does have countervailing advantages: discussing with the utility tree man about which trees need trimmed or removed. While I hate losing trees, some of them are in hazardous positions, and we're getting the work done free. So, trimming --> firewood and MULCH. I danced in squeeing circles of that last bit: estimate is a truck and a half of mulch. Also now I have to prioritize reconstructing the entire defensive line of the savannah into what it should be: bushes or short-short trees under the line, and trees farther back. I impressed on the fellow that cutting ALL the trees at once would leave a giant gap in the wind protection and then storm damage would mangle the inner trees, power lines, house, and all. Agh. So yeah. Day eaten by locusts, pecked to death by ducklings, it's coming up on supper time and this post is the first of the actually planned things I've been able to touch.
The Rose & Bay Awards are open for nominations of excellent crowdfunded projects active during 2015 in the following categories. Please come propose your favorite projects for recognition. All categories need more activity, but especially Art and Other Project. So far nobody else has nominated stuff and I just do not have the time to chase folks individually and ask for that, and we're running out of time as nominations close at the end of January.

We had some snow and a little rain this week. The bird feeder action continues to be lively! Seen at the bird feeders this week: huge flock of sparrows, medium flock of mourning doves, several cardinals, two squirrels, downy woodpecker, and red-bellied woodpecker.
