Want to bet Easy City does that with their trams? [L-New Orleans started the tiny library movement after all.]

Come to think of ti, doesn't L-NYC have a Big Read event on their subways, [everyone reading the same book]... it would make sense to have a dust-jacket or bookmark that worked as a ticket then, and I'm sure someone in T-NYC thought of it.
Likely so. I expect that other people, such as taxi drivers, may have their own version of giving free or discounted rides to passengers based on books.

Feel free to prompt for this if you'd like to see it -- Tuesday's "weather" prompt would neatly synch with bad weather driving people into public transit stations.
Oh, yeah.. if there's one advantage books have, they carry on working even if the power goes out...
:D That's what flashlights and hurricane lamps are for!
Hmmm... now there's an idea for a prompt; Adaptations to bad weather, or coping with the storm!
[I'll give it some thought and come up with better phrasing tomorrow.]
Ooo, that sounds promising!
That's absolutely brilliant.
