Poem: "Woolgathering Galaxies"

This poem came out of the November 3, 2015 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by an image prompt from [personal profile] siliconshaman. It also fills the "kinetic energy" square in my 10-2-15 card for the [community profile] ladiesbingo fest.  Based on an audience poll, this poem has been sponsored from the general fund.

"Woolgathering Galaxies"

This is the future of which I dream:

floating weightless in a long habitat,
of Herland, watching the clouds drift past
as farms and lakes roll around me,

watching the other women work,
their nimble hands assembling
habitats and starships and
all the things that men said
could never be done,

admiring the engines that dance
with the kinetic energy which
harnesses the power of
infinite, invisible horses,

gazing out the portholes and
woolgathering galaxies to spin
into stubborn, unbreakable days

in which anything is possible.
