... my desertfolk are laughing. Spend 20+ years with people, and even if they live in another world, they're gonna rub off some.

Traditional, Vibrant, and Tasteful

21 Islamic, 11 Impressionist, 9 Ukiyo-e, -20 Cubist, -19 Abstract and 1 Renaissance!

Islamic art is developed from many sources: Roman, Early Christian, and Byzantine styles were taken over in early Islamic architecture; the architecture and decorative art of pre-Islamic Persia was of paramount significance; Central Asian styles were brought in with various nomadic incursions; and Chinese influences . Islamic art uses many geometical floral or vegetable designs in a repetitive pattern known as arabesque. It is used to symbolize the transcendent, indivisible and infinite nature of Allah.

People that like Islamic art tend to be more traditional people that appreciate keeping patterns that they learned and experienced from their past. It is not to say that they are not innovative personalities, they just do not like to let go of their roots. They like to put new ideas into details and make certain that they will work before sharing them with others. Failure is not something they like to think about because they are more interested in being successful and appreciated for their intelligence. These people can also be or like elaborate things in their life as long as they are tasteful. They tend to prefer geometric patterns and vibrant colors.

I just found it interesting enough that there was mention of Roman and Asian inspiration, as well as mentions of Islamic architecture. Architecture in the Islamic areas (today) is really nice stuff (the stuff that's not the shacks, obv). And I can't hide my adoration of Asian and Roman art. :X I mean, I kept picking images that had no correllation with what I had been chosing, so I was curious how that would work out. I was amazed when I actually chose a cubism picture, since I typically dislike cubism.

It was a very interesting meme. :)
yeah but....TRADITIONAL!!!!
It's ironic, but in art, yes. I want art to look like something, not a splattered mutated mess. I want to see people that look like people, or a landscape, or animals, or calligraphy, or quilted geometrics. Something with a pattern, with balances and contrasts. Something that tells a story or invites me to examine its layers. Well-done stylized or surreal pictures can still grab me -- I like Escher and some of Van Gogh, and I love fractal art, for instance. But in general, the less recognizable the figures, the less I'll like the picture. It doesn't have to be a picture of something in this world -- I love F&SF art -- but I had better be able to see more than random blotches or bizarre distortions.

Consequently, I tend to hate a majority of modern art, because those features aren't the height of fashion right now.
I got this result also. :)

The test result picture makes me think of Amal and Shar. -_-
Me too. In fact it resembles a classic Whispering Sands painting that relates part of the myth about the first four horses -- there's one of Windborn and Waveborn emerging from swirls like that, and another of Sunborn and Sandborn.
I thought that Islamic art forbid the depiction of any living creature. That's why the fountain of the lions at the Alhambra is such a mystery -- it shouldn't BE there.
