"Wakewalking"


At midnight on
December 31, 1999
the world ended.

The parties rolled onward, though --
there were poppers to pop and
champagne to pour.

After the holiday, everyone
went back to work again.

The world ended,
and nobody noticed,

because you cannot awaken people
who refuse to believe they are asleep.
