Adoption: Have Some Clues

Here's a wonderful post about adoption from an adoptee.  This is the healthy way to talk about adoption: by acknowledging the ups and downs, the diversity of different people's experiences, and where people's choices can make a difference.  Well done.

And some times, de facto, the adoption arrow points the other way. :)

S'funny. Some workplaces treat family life as a distant second to working for the Man. But now that I've got people in my life? I seem to be more "in" at work... and though my whole cube alley is guys, no one *ever* gives us static when one of us has to take off and rescue a kid, or take time out to see games or even coach... as long as the work is getting done? Go. Do.

It's not something I'll give up easily, if ever.

That kind of healthy workplace is a rare and precious thing today.

It's not entirely healthy. The senior VP in the chain of command is a micromanaging prick... he hates his job, I've no idea why he's still here... and the guy next down is a misogynist asshole who actively hides money from his wife... the latter is at least very good at his job, and keeps the dude above him out of our hair. And having two (was three, but the VP ran her off) strong women as his direct reports has had a positive effect on his attitude... when there were three of'em and they ganged up on him it was *amusing*... all three are health nuts, stuff the dude is diametrically opposed to... they got to talking salad and veggie juice and you could *see* him turning green... it was all I could do not to laugh... :)

Still. I count myself very lucky to have landed a gig like that... it's still working for the Man but I have time and resources to go be subversive...
