Third State Legalizes Same-Sex Marriage

This article marks a terrific win for civil rights and equality:

Conn. court overturns same-sex marriage ban
HARTFORD, Connecticut - Connecticut's Supreme Court ruled Friday that same-sex couples have the right to marry, making that state the third behind Massachusetts and California to legalize such unions. The divided court ruled 4-3 that gay and lesbian couples cannot be denied the freedom to marry under the state constitution, and Connecticut's civil unions law does not provide those couples with the same rights as heterosexual couples.

I'm pleased to see people recognizing the marriage ban as discrimination. Homosexual people don't want "special" rights, just the same rights that heterosexual people enjoy. That's as it should be.

I agree, that's the way it should be. My best friends are lesbians, and I just attended their wedding last Sunday and it was so beautiful and I cried the entire time I was so happy. I read about this today and was extremely happy. There's a measure that is coming up for the California voters on November 5th where it might possibly overturn the ruling made here to allow same sex marriages and I am hoping that it does not pass. A yes vote would ban the same sex marriage law, and overturn the court ruling made here, and a no vote would allow them to be able to continue to marry. I listen to a radio station here every morning where this is quite a lively topic of discussion almost every day, and people that listen to the show are divided, however there was a survey done here in California where most people support same sex marriage, so I am quite happy about that ;)
