Shades of Us

I was pleased to see some articles about diversity today.  This one discusses skin-toned fashions such as hosiery and shoes being expanded to cover more shades of nude.  This one presents a department store that's planning to offer gender-neutral clothing and organization, instead of men's/women's; alas, a temporary showing, but it's a step in the right direction.

I note that the one outfit advertising a "full range" of colour only goes to XL (36DD)... *wince* they may have got the point about colour but clearly they did NOT study their target audience! DD isn't much more than pasties for your not-so-average BBBW! Never mind her posterior... even white boys know Sir Mix-A-Lot's greatest hit...

*sigh* And of course if someone who would otherwise be a customer of these products tried to start her own line? Financing? ha ha! They wouldn't give you the time of day. GRRRR!!! If I was at all decent in sales or marketing I'd offer to use WASP-hetboi priv to leverage financing for the otherwise kick-ass lady who wanted to do this... but as it is, I'm an Engineer, I suck at the whole salescritter thing. Somebody really should, though.

I believe they started with a range of common sizes and have engaged in polling to determine what other sizes their customers want.
Okay, that I can see. Although I still think they should've gone to 3X from the get-go, given their audience.. but being willing to *fix* the problem goes a long way.
