Today's Yardening: Daffodils

I finally had time to get out and plant another bag of daffodils, most of them around the birdgift apple tree.  I still have one more big bag to plant.

I've been so busy with other urgent projects, I'm running behind on the daffodils and a lot of other things.  :/  But at least I made some progress today.

I went out and bought three bags of daffodil bulbs this week--21 bulbs total.
They were on clearance and they were a pretty double type that I didn't already have, so I couldn't resist. (The variety name is Cheerfulness.)
:)

Those sound lovely.

My father is buying them by the bag from a place that sells landscaping bulbs, so he's getting daffodils in bags of 50-100 and letting me pick what I want out of them.
If you and your dad could stand to wait another month, NetherlandsBulb.com has their annual bulb clearance sale in the weeks just before Xmas.
Their bulbs are always top quality, BIG bulbs and they keep their bulbs in climate-controlled storage so they are in good shape when you get them.
I should know. I've bought somewhere over 1,000 bulbs from them over the years.
:)
By then the ground will be frozen here.
Some years I get lucky here in Indiana and can still plant even into December.
Other years I wind up having to dig clay and mix it with potting soil so that I can "plant" any late bulbs in kiddie wading pools. After they go dormant in early summer, I then transplant the bulbs into their permanent spot in my yard.
:)
