Greeble This

I discovered a new word courtesy of seticat. Greeble means to decorate something, such as a model, with useless bits that make it more plausible.

"The American presidential election is heavily greebled."

Funny, when I used to build airplane models I called it "drybrushing." Mess up your shiny, factory-new airplane with acrylic mud, dry-brushed silver (paint wear with aluminum showing,) soot, little plastic patches where holes had been repaired. Come to think of it, not quite the same thing, but movie model builders do that too.
It sounds like "greebles" are 3-dimensional rather than 2-dimensional, but the underlying premise is the same.
