Well, if we're talking about emotional signature, Dr. Infanta is in a class of her own. She has the hero-band of making things better, and that's what some people pick up on who consider her very trustworthy -- which she is, in a lot of ways. She has the villain-band of ruthlessness, but it is quite specifically the child version -- the way some kids will do rather appalling things because their ethics haven't grown in yet. Chilly, but not arctic. She does NOT have the deeper band of evil that is reveling in another person's suffering just for the sake of tormenting them. She's no puppeteer either; her extensive manipulation is all defensive or benevolent.

It makes sense to me that folks will resonate with characters based on similarity of context, experiences, choices, etc. And if feeling and thinking point in different directions, most people will trust their feelings.
