The Language Test Says ...

Your result for The Absolute Language Test...

The Rain In Spain Stays Mainly In The Plane

71% Eloquent, 57% Well-Versed, 24% So-So, 16% Amateur and 10% Ignoramus!

The statement above is a play on words, I know it's supposed to be "plain." So please no more e-mails about how I spelled it wrong.

You are a master of the art of language! You probably speak more than one language and are very well cultured because of it. You also get annoyed with people who don't use proper grammar and constantly correct them. Give yourself a pat on the back! You're ready for the Embassy Ball!

... Second to last question: 17 languages have appeared in this quiz:

English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Norwegian, Latin, Dutch, Farsi (Persian), German, Russian, Japanese, Egyptian hieroglyphics, Egyptian Demotic, Chinese, Italian, Greek, Cuneiform

Take The Absolute Language Test at HelloQuizzy

Well, you knew that, if you read this blog at all. And if you like reading me, you'll probably love this test.

Essentially I score great for someone marooned in American's anglocentric environment. I've learned a great deal about languages by studying whatever I can find, and by inventing my own. But a fully trained linguist or someone from a civilized part of the world like France will still beat me.

*chuckle* Unless the challenge is flung outside our areas of prior expertise. My language center is more flexible. A contortionist, even. For fun.

Not necessarily! I'm not exactly fully-trained, but I did major in linguistics -- and our scores are practically identical. I got:

73% Eloquent, 62% Well-Versed, 19% So-So, 11% Amateur and 8% Ignoramus
Okay, maybe I'm farther along than I thought. I wish I had the formal training in linguistics, not so much because I agree with all of it, as it's easier to bend the rules into fun shapes when you already know what all of them are.
