Blogs I Love

rhfay listed my blog when he did the "I Love Your Blog" meme (thank you!). So, I'm supposed to list 7 or more blogs that I love, and post the graphic here. The people I list are supposed to do the same. I don't care about that -- it's your call whether you've got the time or not. But you write great blogs, so thanks.

1) haikujaguar writes speculative fiction and also posts beautiful speculative art. Get your daily fix of elves, dragons, aliens, tough women, and pretty men. She also invents alien languages, sometimes including the writing system. She holds deep, thoughtful conversations about what makes writing succeed or fail ... and occasional verbal pillowfights over shallow but fun topics. She also practices cyberfunded creativity with fiction and divination.

2) ozarque is a master linguist. Nevermind that other linguists snub her: they're just jealous because she's smarter than they are and almost always right. And she's too nice to mop the floor with them verbally, but she could if she wanted to. She presents the gentle art of verbal self-defense, writes science fiction poetry (often with audience help), and ruminates on growing old gracefully.

The top two are the only blogs I read EVERY DAY and make sure to read every post. They are just that good.

3) shadesong is a writer of fantasy, science fiction, and slipstream. She practices cyberfunded creativity with fiction. She's one of the few people who make me think "Wow, and I thought I was busy!" with her update posts. Take a walk through her worlds. You'll be glad you did.

4) sythyry is a zi-ri, a miniature dragon who lives on a world shaped like a tree. Zie loves members of other species, which is considered uncouth, and is responsible for keeping an insanely powerful and powerfully insane monster out of the city. Read zir journal to be reminded that, yes, your life could suck a lot more than it does.

5) sleigh writes science fiction and fantasy. He often hosts other F&SF authors as guests on his blog, making it an excellent hub for readers who want to explore the genre on LiveJournal.

6) difrancis writes fantasy. She frequently posts about the craft and business of writing.

7) filkertom is a brilliant satirical lyricist and a good musician. He writes and sings funny songs, mostly filk (science fiction/fantasy). Recently he's been posting some very savvy political commentary too. He's quite good at calling a spade a spade, and then using it to beat sense into people who should've known better in the first place.

8) stonetalker writes about nature, spirituality, gardening, magic, and other whimsies. Sometimes she posts about cooking and food; she's the one who turned me on to the cucumber-mint sorbet.

9) theweaselking provides visual and textual strangeness. If you think the world is insufficiently weird, this will fix it. Writers, this is a useful wrecking ball for writer's block.

10) dianavilliers posts photos from far places and musings on life in general.

Oh! Thank you. You place me in excellent company, and I am delighted.
You have it backwards though - I take pictures of my very ordinary surroundings, and send them to strange, far off places....
Slipstream? Hm! Hadn't thought that.

And thank you, and I like your blog quite a lot!

(Also, having a kid makes you exponentially busier.)
I was thinking slipstream mainly for Wind Tunnel Dreams, because those little tidbit stories often merge genres and don't fit snugly into any preconceived category.

I'm glad you like my blog too!
