Back in Action

Yesterday our net connection went down, and we just got it back.  So, day eaten by locusts, and I was already behind.  I will catch up as best I can.

On the very bright and shiny side: they were able to fix the proximate problem from the distal end, without needing to come here.  I doubt that will work every time something goes wrong, but it is a technological milestone which I am delighted to reach.  Hello, old friend!

This is why I like having all my data *at home*...
Exactly. As much as possible, I keep things within my own reach. At least then I can get some work done offline, so long as the electricity is on. And I have paper, pencils, oil lamps, and matches in case of hot ideas while the power is off.
proximate, distal :-)

Yesterday I was in an introductory workshop. The leader used the word "plethora" and I looked up in sudden pleasure. Afterwards, when we were talking, he remarked on the value of using words that mean exactly what you want to express.
I love words. Proximate/distal is a favorite, especially when I'm talking about problems, because there is often both a proximate and a distal cause. Solving the proximate cause alone will not fix anything -- you have to reach the distal source.
