Poem: "Infinite Dimensions"

This is the freebie for today's session, prompted by my_partner_doug.

Infinite Dimensions

We live in three dimensions,
can imagine time as a fourth
or see the shadow of a hypercube,

but in cyberspace
there are no limits
to the number of dimensions
that a computer can conceive.

Some physicists believe
that we live in a three-dimensional eddy
of a twelve-dimensional universe.

It may be that Penrose tiles
do not repeat regularly
because their crystalline structure
exceeds the available dimensions,

that nothing sticks to Teflon
because the parts of it
which exist in extradimensional space
get in the way of anything trying
to touch it in three-dimensional space.

These concepts, too, have their overlaps
in the idea of manifold space,
what can be imagined
but not made manifest,

thoughts sliding
over and through each other
like the circles of a Venn diagram.

The mind is
the most infinite dimension of all.

Notes:

Explore time as a fourth dimension.

A hypercube is a four-dimensional object.

Read about multidimensional arrays in computing.

Lisa Randall talks about extra dimensions.

Penrose tiles consist of two different diamond shapes.

Teflon is a nonstick coating.

Learn about dimensions and manifolds.

Venn diagrams show relationships among different sets.

Yes. Minds can do all *sorts* of things. :)
