Chainsaw Carving a Chapbook

Today's project has been selecting a 20-page manuscript for a chapbook of speculative poetry, which I'll be submitting to a publisher in response to a query they liked. They want mixed subgenres, mostly reprints with "a few" new poems. This entails chainsawing a list of 92+ published poems and thousands of unpublished poems down to about 20.

As you may well imagine, I am nowhere near done. Fortunately I have Doug to help. I've printed out the list of 92, crossed off some that are too recent to reprint or otherwise unavailable, and marked some personal favorites. I've also listed some favorite unpublished poems, and printed off those and a few of the published ones that I expect Doug will want to read to refresh his memory. I'll probably have to print more later. It's kind of fun going through the poems, in a way, but ... yeek, what an imposing mound they make when all piled together!

I am not thinking about how nice it would be to steal that mound.
