Poem: "Electric Tesseract"

This poem was inspired by the "AU: band" square on my 1-2-13 card for the Trope Bingo fest and the "singing" square on my 2-1-14 card for the Cottoncandy Bingo fest.  It has been sponsored by Anthony & Shirley Barrette.  It belongs to the Schrodinger's Heroes project.

This is the band that
everyone wants to book,
but only the best offers
get past the manager --
Vic has a gimlet eye
and he cuts a tough deal.

Alex is the lead singer,
who also plays guitar.
She is smart and talented,
blonde and beautiful.

The other singer is Quinn,
who plays bass and regular guitar.
He's always changing his hair color,
his style, his gear, his everything.

Ash plays the synthesizer
and sometimes a cedar flute.
She wears two feathers
in her straight black hair,
but they're cut from motherboard.

Pat's on drums, on cymbals,
on rattles and bells
and the rest of percussion.
His biggest drum has
a picture of Shango on the front.

Alex's black cat Schrodinger
is not just a mascot
but another keyboardist; 
he adds to the band's unique sound,
delicately walking across the keys.

Bailey is the equipment wizard
who keeps the hardware running.
He is the one who designed
the costumes with threads of light
running through space-black fabric.

Morgan handles the lighting
and the special effects on stage.
She spangles the boards with stars
that flicker in time to the music.

Kay takes care of security;
nobody and nothing gets past
her wall of watchful muscle.

They are Electric Tesseract,
defying genre and conventions
to make their own sound,
their own shape in the world,
blowing everyone's quanta.

They're inclusive, too,
with not just one but two  sexuals --
Pat in the band and Morgan on the crew.

They are a band,
and they are a family,
for this is a kind of marriage
common in the Alpha Vector:

not one based on sex
but one based on passion and profession,
their lives playing out together

in perfect harmony.
