Yes. People often enthuse over famous inventions such as control of fire or flint knapping, but overlook others such as cordmaking and basket weaving that would have had just as much impact on ancestral survival. Try going on a camping trip with no way to tie things together and nothing to put your stuff in, and it becomes obvious how essential these are.

Also, I love your icon. I'm a fan of lapwork in general. Knitting, crochet, embroidery, quilting, etc. are wonderful ways of multitasking, and popular at filk/bardic circles. Personally I favor hand-sewing. As long as the pattern is not finicky -- and most of what I make is simple to moderate -- then I can sew while having a conversation, and accomplish two things at once. This is why our coven has a generous set of colored tabards and other goodies.
