Yeah. That's why he's been avoiding the topic for months: he expected the conversation to blow up in his face. Victor knows that communication is not his strong suit, and he has a lot of experience in conversations going wrong. He doesn't really know how to take small bits as they come up, before it builds into something big and difficult.

In Victor's defense, I don't think Igor was hearing him at all. I think Victor got a few words out and Igor's head exploded in a snarl of bad tape. I'm not sure even a master linguist could have gotten through the stacks and stacks of bad tape in there to convey "You are important to me, and I think our arrangements might work better if we discussed changing a few things to account for that."
