  • Rose-breasted Grosbeak

I saw a rose-breasted grosbeak on the hopper feeder. I don't think I've seen one in summer before. They usually appear in spring. We had some for…

Durability and capability, the exact reasons to want to be human. It doesn't matter if our spit is corrosive, our blood contains poisons to things of non-Earthly biology! Heck, just injecting human blood platelets would cause a gazillion problems. Then there's the fact that if we're walking, we can actually out-walk most other species on Earth. Human endurance is incredible.

Add problem-solving intelligence and mental flexibility to that, and the very existence of a human is a potential threat to be addressed with a flurry of polite diplomatic relations.

Or perhaps just demonstrations of brotherhood and teachings of enlightenment. After all, if we can stop warring with everyone around us long enough to speak with one voice, the only way to stop us would be to make peace and join as a family.

And then the galaxy would be ours. ;)
I doubt we'll ever stop warring, I forget whom, but I've heard it said that in the past 7,000 years of recorded history, the amount of time where there's been no wars anywhere amounts to just under a year...
There have been individual cultures with very low violence. It's possible. I would like to see those memes spread.
True... the problem is that non-violent cultures frequently meet with violent reactions. [which is, more often than not, the reaction of choice by violent people to anything new and different.] This usually does not end well..

Still, who knows...we may yet evolve as a species.
Yes. Sadly that's why most of those cultures no longer exist. However, the fact that multiple examples have existed in the past is an indication that the possibility of peaceful culture is as much a part of human nature as violence culture. We can choose. We can hope that our descendants will make better choices than us or our ancestors.

Hmmm... now imagine some Galactic council faced with an implacable foe, eg replicators for example, and forced to recruit the one species that might stand a chance against them...humans!
That was really funny, thanks for sharing!
Hilarious and SO true. ;-p
