Yes...

That's what I was thinking, yes. A simpler version would just be to code ears and whiskers into the puppet commands, or make them standard motions cued by facial expressions (i.e. if the human face frowns, the fox ears would tilt back).

Re: Yes...

Well, I was kind of thinking that you could use the brain-wave reading headset, but instead of sending the commands to the ear servos, you could use it as an extra channel to control the virtual face rig.. [ears, tail etc]

But yeah, a human face reading algorithm could be used to control the virtual ears, instead of the face-rig just texture mapping onto the human face. The only problem I see is that it would significantly increase the code, and thus computing time, introducing lag. Which wouldn't be a problem with an extra control channel.

That could work. There's a robotic tail as well as ears.

I don't think it should complicate the code much. The face-reading tech is already there; this just adds a fairly simple subset of changes onto the stuff that's already changing. Lock the ear position to other expressions and it doesn't have to tie up as much decision-making bandwidth; or put it on puppet control, which seems to be an option for some other stuff already.
