I am not sure that the British all hate foxes but it is true that there is an age-old tradition of fox hunting in the UK.

Some do, some don't. Foxhunters often purport that foxes are a nuisance, hence the need for hunting them; but they are careful to ensure there are always enough to hunt. Farmers -- especially if they raise livestock -- are more likely to have a serious hatred of foxes. In the realm of myth and legend, the British are often iconized as fox-foes.
