How is that not white? I have stepsisters who look like that and identify as white. Middle-Eastern=white on every demographic information sheet I've filled out for the last year.

Now granted it's not blond with blue eyes, as my Bible Story book has him. It's not the red-haired Joseph and blond Mary of many nativities. It's not Max vonSydow's Swedish!Jesus. But he's white, regardless.

I'd expect a longer, narrower nose, and longer, more oval (or possibly squarish) face typical of the region. I don't expect him to look like Oded Fehr, but maybe like Jamie Farr.

What counts as "white" depends on who you ask. Some people count Middle Eastern as white. Many, especially in today's terrorism-minded world, view Middle Eastern people with extreme prejudice -- sometimes more so than black or Hispanic people.

Another thing to consider is that Middle Eastern skin tones vary from fair through olive to brown. To my eyes, Jesus looks more realistic with tinted skin than with fair skin. YMMV.

Re: Well...

I'm old and confused. People I thought of as white all my life aren't considered white any more. I grew up with Pakistani doctors, Lebanese stepsisters etc, and they were all white because they weren't black, Asian or Native American.

Of course, I never thought of Hispanics as not white either. The ones with a lot of First Nations registered as Native, the rest were an ethnic white.

But I'm an old midwesterner from a sundown town who bristles at being called Anglo.
