to benefit other beings.
They cover themselves
in blood and skulls,
for all that is mortal passes away
and is not to be desired.
Each one seeks out
demons of a certain type.
Hayagriva tracks down
the Amitabha of evil speech.
Vishuddha hunts for
the Vajrapani of ill thoughts.
Lokastotrapuja-natha trails
the Ksitigarbha of worldly pride.
Whoever meditates on these terrifying forms
may learn the wisdom and strength
to overcome their own inner demons
and attain liberation from attachment.
