Are there gods or angels -- or things that think they are or claim to be -- in the Monster House universe? I'm not sure if I'd count the Lurking Shadow's mother or not ... she'd be an ancient and incomprehensible Lovecraftian sort of deity if that were the right thing to call her.

"Good" and "evil" being magically detectable (and occasionally rather oddly mapped when people decline to conform to stereotypes) the way they are in the world Nib and Brod inhabit is something I've ~always associated with RPGs with multiple conflicting pantheons and so forth. I don't think that deities have made an appearance there yet, as such. Are there any? (Possibly that I've overlooked along the way.) What are they like, and how do they relate to good and evil?

Path of Paladins.

Minor, local, narrowly-focused and/or household gods.

Becoming a deity.

An angel older than the entity it works for.

Poem

From household gods I got the free-verse poem "Guardians of the House." Fiorenza honors both transcendent and immanent deities, but she asks them for different things.

Poem

Your paladins prompt inspired the free-verse poem "Mind of Peace." Ari provides comfort to a beggar who had been in the war.

Poem

The paladins prompt inspired the free-verse poem "Its Very Existence." It explores what happened to the two men who attacked Shahana and Ari in their camp.

Poem

Your Monster House prompt led to the free-verse poem "Winter Angels." It muses on the implications of angels in the world.

Re: Poem

O_o I seem to've claimed an unfair share of your writing time this time around ...

Re: Poem

It's okay. You just happened to give me some prompts that sparked multiple poems. Sometimes people give me an entire plot in a prompt, and they'll get one thing. But give me something simple that mixes well with my theme, and you may wind up with a stack. I think I did at least three with angels in trees from aldersprig. Other times somebody will give a whole list of prompts that I want to do several over. It varies, who gets more attention in a given month. I try to make sure everybody gets one, and beyond that, wherever the inspiration goes.

Re: Poem

I'm glad I posted that prompt, then ;-) It came from a conversation my spousal unit and I were having in Hobby Lobby - Angels in the tree are a thing for my family, and not for his, and we don't actually have one yet.

Re: Poem

Yay! I hope you find a good angel, then.

My family tends to prefer stars as tree-toppers. The one we had when I was little was silver and tinsel with lights in it.
