Photography

Abandoned barn and autumn leaves.

I've always loved the beauty of weathered things.  Back in college, I took a Japanese culture class that included a presentation of wabi-sabi aesthetics.  It made perfect sense to me.  I was basically the only person who got it, other than the professor.  Even the TA said it was esoteric and largely irrelevant.  But I was thrilled to have vocabulary for it.

Some years ago, some US decorating magazines showed pictures of 'Pure Style' -- a ceiling with peeling paint, an old cookstove.... Loved it.
