Poem: "Like Milk and Honey"

This poem is from the July 2013 Crowdfunding Creative Jam.  It was inspired by a prompt from Dreamwidth user Elliemurasaki.  It has been sponsored by zianuray.  This poem belongs to the series Hart's Farm.

Like Milk and Honey

Auduna likes Hart's Farm
both despite and because of
its strange relationships.

There are the bonds of blood,
for most of the farmborn are related
and so they look for lovers
among the outsiders.

There are the bonds of time,
for children who grow up together
often view each other as brothers and sisters
regardless of who their parents may be.

Then there are the bonds of choice,
for the outsiders who come to the farm
find a home and kin here,
regardless of their past.

The two halves of the community,
farmborn and outsiders,
run together like milk and honey.

Auduna does not understand it all yet,
but she is learning.
