and I've learnt a new word... when I was a wee bairn I knew a man whose name was Chandler, but I did not know all that it meant... until today. Candles and wax and *soap*... which makes a ton of sense given the chemistry...

Yay! I love doing that.

Yes, cheap candles used to be made with the same tallow as used to make soap. I've spent enough time at Renaissance Faires and Pagan gatherings that for me "chandler" is a perfectly normal profession.
