... in sign language. Pay attention to the chorus: each performer renders the same signs very differently. These variations in signs, from the subtle to the dramatic, convey much of what prosody does in spoken languages. The signs also follow along with the rhythm of the source song and -- in some hands more than others -- make an effort to create visual rhymes by repeating similar shapes and motions. It's very challenging to translate across language modes like this; few people can do it well.
