This, in a sideways kind of way, makes me think about Elementary. I'd be okay with either gender-swapped Watson or disgraced-doctor Watson as "interesting, different take on the character"; but having both of them at once kind of feels as though the background change was because of the gender-swap. As if someone couldn't deal with the idea of a woman being a war hero.

That makes sense to me.

Does Maud work for you, as a female disabled veteran? I used that specific motif -- throwing back a grenade -- as an example of batshit crazy heroism, rather than the more accepted responses of running or diving for cover.
