This poem came from the March 5, 2013 Poetry Fishbowl. It was inspired by an image prompt from siliconshaman. It has been sponsored by
janetmiles.
It looks like a Romani vardo
come up through the industrial age,
a big truck with a house on its back
all decked out in red and green and gold.
The little arched windows
have scrollwork underneath,
the highest part of the siding
is fanciful gingerbread,
and a balcony rests between
the two halves of the upper story.
The house truck goes where the road goes,
a quirk of New Zealand culture,
stopping and parking wherever there is
a parking lot and a view.
Let's face if, if you live in New Zealand,
who wouldn't want to drive around looking at it?

Notes:
A Romani vardo is a type of large wagon designed as living space. They can be quite ornate and beautiful.
