Poem: "Heliotrope"

Here is the freebie for the February 2013 Crowdfunding Creative Jam.  It was inspired by a prompt from mdlbear.

Heliotrope

The author lays out a trope --

stuffing the hero's girlfriend into a refrigerator --

Boring!

The villain is dismayed to discover
that hibernation makes her immortal.  Oops.

The author becomes intrigued
by the twisting of tropes.

The magic harp sings,
but the sound attracts evil,
and then the harp begins to play the bard.

Bet you didn't see that coming!

Trope and twist and zigzag,
plotlines heading toward helix.
The author reaches for needle-nosed pliers
and a pinboard for winding the silver wire.

The dark elf is not dark,
but a light elf in makeup,
who then discovers a dark-elf ancestor
who was born light but later cursed.

Dance, trope, dance!
Dance for my amusement
.

The author rubs both hands together
and begins to cackle.
