Everyone, please wait at least 24 hours before politicizing a tragedy in any way, regardless of your stance on whatever issues you consider relevant. For maximum civility, wait until after the funerals. If you have anything to say before then, keep it to expressions of sympathy or charitable support. Afterwards ... remember that whatever you think other people should do or believe, you won't make the screen door better by slamming it.
Feel free to copy this if you're getting frustrated by instant arguments elsewhere.

I grew up in CT, not in that part of the state, but CT is not a large state. This make me just so sick at heart to think about, and that people are already politicizing it? Even worse.

It took nearly an hour for anyone to post something else constructive. I'd gotten up, fixed a cup of tea, and talked about the poetry sale before I sat back down and saw the first of the sympathy candle posts and suchlike.
And no, my FB feed is not usually like that, I fill it with NASA news and writers and such. Just, sometimes the world makes people's heads explode. I just wanted to talk about how cool it is there's a Mt. Doom on Titan.

I'm definitely lucky in my Facebook feed being very sympathetic, and I'm avoiding much of the news sites right now, in regards to this matter. I might post something later once my head has a chance to finish processing what happened.
... really? Mt. Doom on Titan? That sounds awesomely nifty.
