Moment of Silence: Ravi Shankar and poem "Silence of Moments"

Master musician Ravi Shankar has passed away.  He will be greatly missed.

Silence of Moments
-- an elegy for Ravi Shankar, 4/7/20-12/11/12

Still the strings
and muffle the drums.

The musician is gone
and silence comes.

Whisper of robes
over sandaled feet --

candles burn,
and incense sweet --

all the people gather round
without a sound.

Heaven shines like a thousand suns
where the Ganges runs.

Not enough pretty music in the world.
I wish more people would devote themselves to doing harmless things that beautify the world instead of bring it down.
