This one has a cool history in speculative fiction, having given us things like Discworld and A World of Difference.

Re: Yes...

I've heard of a belief even weirder than flat-earth: concave hollow earth theory says that what we think of as the surface of the earth is actually the inside surface of a hollow sphere. It's totally absurd and gravitational science disproves the notion as even being possible, in our universe. But in another universe, it could be true.

There was at least one popular cult that believed in concave hollow earth theory, a cult called Koreshanity.

Re: Yes...

And that is similar to how the Mesklinites (Hal Clement, Mission of Gravity) saw their world. Hard SF in our universe.

Re: Yes...

There's also the more conventional hollow Earth theory, that the inside of the planet is hollowed out, with people living on the inner surface just as we do the outer surface.

There's also the multiple-Earth theory that says there are many Earths nested inside each other, each one growing outward as new Earths spawn within, so that our sky and universe is the inside of a former Earth, and our current Earth forms the sky and universe for a newer Earth deep inside our own.

Re: Yes...

Multiple-earth is a new one on me.

Concave hollow earth is similar to how the Yahgahn theology of Traipah views the whole universe. Basically, before the Big Bang there was the Creation Onyx, a magical "stone" that is black, but emits small amounts of light. Over a long period of time, that light builds up and gets so dense that it eventually begins a chain reaction that converts Creation Onyx into spacetime and energy/matter. So the different universes are ever-expanding caverns inside an infinite amount of Creation Onyx.
