Poem: "Baby Malice and the Drama Llama"

This poem is from the December 4, 2012 Poetry Fishbowl.  It was inspired by a prompt from je_reviens.  It also fills the "dark" square on my card for the Dark Fantasy Bingo fest.  This poem has been sponsored by Anthony & Shirley Barrette.

Baby Malice and the Drama Llama

In the college dorm,
everyone had a message board on the door,
and each board had its own decoration.

There were piles of Pokemon and Hello Kitty,
robots, spacemen, and rainbowed unicorns.

Mary's board bore the interior of a toy chest,
and sitting in the corner was a Victorian doll
in a white lace dress and patent leather slippers,
with a dark pageboy haircut and one hand raised.

Deirdre's board was plain white
but clipped to one corner
was a fuzzy little llama with dark fur
in a Peruvian hat with pink pompoms.

When the girls in the dorm
started fighting over the same guy,
things got weird.

Messages appeared
that nobody would admit to leaving,
and the characters had names scrawled beside them:
Baby Malice and the Drama Llama.

They were supposed to be cute,
supposed to be sweetness and light --
surely they were just toys,
and the messages just a game --
but there was a darker edge to them
than anyone had anticipated.

Baby Malice sported a pair of sunglasses
and a smoking cigarette in her mouth.
The Drama Llama suddenly had
a horse's saddle on his back.

No matter how many times
Mary erased the dry-ink accessories
or Deirdre threw away the little plastic saddle,
they always reappeared.

John the Same Guy
snuck into the dorm exactly once
and caused a catfight that lasted an hour.

Either you settle this,
or I will,
  said Baby Malice.
Bring it, bitch,  said the Drama Llama.

The next day,
Baby Malice appeared
not with a smoking cigarette in her mouth
but with a smoking gun in her hand,
coolly blowing away the plumes.

John's body was never found.

Plumes? Fumes?

Or connected with Fledging?
Plumes of smoke. Would fumes be clearer in the reading?
