This week the poetry of The Steamsmith is on sale for half-price, since the September 4, 2012 fishbowl made the $300 goal. This steampunk/science fiction series touches on themes of technology, philosophy, ethnic studies, gender studies, class dynamics and being an honorable person. You can read more about The Steamsmith on the Serial Poetry page.
The Steamsmith normally costs double the standard rate, which means $1/line in epics, due to the extra workload and hazard. Sale price is half that, so $.50/line. If an epic is opened but not closed during this week, that sale price will remain consistent through the rest of the poem. Currently available are these poems:
"The Tommyrocker" -- a charlady saves the day, a childcare automaton behaves a little oddly, and Maryam tries to figure out what's going on.
"One Man's Renaissance" -- Maryam muses about Leonardo da Vinci, inspiration, and patronage.
"Two Sides of the Same Coin" -- Maryam finds a bit of history from when slavery was still legal, and thinks about her personal heritage.
"Cheques and Balances" -- Maryam's father sends her a birthday letter with substantial news; it also reveals a lot about her family history and the social structure of nether-England.
For future reference, there will also be a Holiday Poetry Sale from December 10-14. Poetry from December 2011-November 2012 will be half-price. Plan your holiday budgets accordingly if you wish to take advantage of this opportunity.
