New Crowdfunding Project: "Hunt Press Needs ISBNs"

This announcement came from angela_n_hunt today. If you're tired of the mainstream ignoring or slamming your interests and affinities, consider supporting small press efforts instead.

Hey folks!

Just wanted to let you know about 'Hunt Press Needs More ISBNs!'

As most of you know, I am the owner and Madam Publisher of Hunt Press. It
is currently in the process of exploding from micropress status to
honest-to-dog small press. So not only have we annihilated two computers
in our growth in the past six years, but since our last campaign, we went
from a pipeline of seven upcoming titles to...

Seventeen.

This was due to taking on a challenge with a fellow small press,
Candlemark & Gleam

<lj-cut>
This was due to taking on a challenge with a fellow small press,
Candlemark & Gleam <HTTP: www.candlemarkandgleam.com />, that we called 12
in 12, where we agreed to attempt to publish twelve new titles in twelve
months, just to see if we could.

Alas. I am an overachiever.

As a result, this has wiped out our stock of ISBNs, the numbers required
by Bowker and Books in Print for all books that wish to seek distribution
in the big bad world of publishing, and has put us in a cash flow crunch.

Raising the money for a large ISBN pack, rather than our traditional 10
pack that we’ve been doing since our first day of business will have a
huge impact. Bowker prices their ISBNs as follows: Single ISBN$125.00 10
ISBNs$250.00 100 ISBNs$575.00 1,000 ISBNs$1,000.00

As you can see, there’s an enormous discount, the bigger a pack of ISBNs
you buy. Right now, basically a 10 pack costs us $25 per ISBN. If we go
with the 100 pack, that drops to $5.75. And if we go over goal and
actually hit more than $1K? Holy crap, they end up only costing us a
dollar each. What that means is that every dollar we save here, can be
turned around and dumped into the books themselves for marketing,
promotion and more.

It’s a big deal.

We need $575 (and the fee for the awesomeness that is IGG) for a 100 pack
of ISBNs.

If we don't reach our funding goal, the money will go to buying a 10 pack
and then into the savings account until we scrimp and save enough to buy
more ISBNs. There is nothing else it will be spent on. These numbers are
non-negotiable in the world of publishing. Without them, you can’t secure
distribution, and without distribution, books die.

Currently all other press funds are tied up in other expenses. Funds from
my other work, like my dayjob, my consulting work and my art are also tied
up in other projects. Only *you* can help us.

Take a moment to check it out on Indiegogo and also share it with your
friends. All the tools are there. Get perks, make a contribution, or
simply follow updates. If enough of us get behind it, we can make 'Hunt
Press Needs More ISBNs!' happen.

And as always, from the bottom of our hearts, from us here at the press:
thank you, thank you, thank you. Y'all are the reason why we do this.

Best,

Angela

Thank you *so* much for the signal boost. It means the world to us over here at the press.
I'm glad I can help spread the word, at least. Small press is really important to me.
(Whispers: What does she mean by saying she wants to add ISBN's? Is it that she wants more books to publish?)
:}
*grin*

We currently have seventeen books scheduled to publish in the next nine months and only two ISBNs left that we own. All books need a unique ISBN for every version of that book, so we need at minimum 32 more ISBNs, just for what we have on hand. That's not counting any new books we acquire. So we're rather desperate to buy more ISBNs.

That being said, we are *always* looking for new voices. Do you have a book? :D Submission guide is over at http://www.huntpress.com

(and thank you, ysabetwordsmith for the heads up!)
I have friends who I'm going to pass this along to...and I myself must surely have something I can shake'n'bake into acceptability...!
Thanks!
:D

You're most welcome!
