It's a Regency romance. The twists are that the heroine is psychic about small things, which complicates her life by getting her involved in things Proper Ladies should not, and that while she brangles with the guy who would stereotypically be the Duke hero, she is actually in love with his best friend.

I have the main plot fairly well worked out, but need to polish up my conversations, and do some research on smuggling along the Dover coast during the the era.

I also would like to have actual French used by the smugglers, instead of telling the readers that my heroine understands what is going on, showing.

I recommend The Writer's Guide to Everyday Life in Regency and Victorian England by Kristine Hughes. I bought it for the Steamsmith series and it's quite useful, plus there are tons of notes that point to further resources.

I like these twists.

That would really help, but may be a nuisance to track down.
