The Damage from Torture

This article expands on the recent coverage of America's official acceptance of torture. It must be remembered that not only is torture destructive to the victims, it is also destructive to the perpetrators and to the source society. Torture is evil. You don't avoid it just because it harms a few people, but because it harms everyone. Evil is a sword without a hilt. There's no way to use it safely.

I don't like living in a country that has become evil. America used to be highly respected ... not perfect, but at least striving toward high ideals and leading progress. I miss that.
