Poem: "Running Through the House"

This poem came out of the October 18, 2011 bonus fishbowl featuring Monster House.  It was inspired by a prompt from natasiakith.  It has been sponsored by rix_scaedu.

Running Through the House

Sometimes in the winter
when all the warm bodies
are sharing a case of the flu

it gets a little tempting
to imagine living alone,
and not having to share germs
with the monsters
under-the-bed and in-the-closet
and the bogeyman,
especially since the germs
tend to get a bit meaner after
they've gone running through the house

but then again
sometimes when our daughter
runs into the bathroom in the middle of the night
the monster in the closet drags himself
out of the linen closet to look after her

and I think, nah,
I wouldn't trade this for the world.

Germs can do that running through an office...

And I'll bet that onec they've had the home version the humans don't have as many problems with the general version.

That is an advantage of living in a magical household.

There have been times when a third person / sentient being in the house would have been very, very useful.
